Wainwright Bank Lends $5.5 Million To The International Institute of Boston, Inc.
Boston, MA, October 31, 1997 - Through a loan granted
by Wainwright Bank & Trust Company, services to
refugees and immigrants will be improved. With a $5.5
million combination bridge and term loan to the International
Institute of Boston, the nonprofit agency will be able
to move from its current location at 287 Commonwealth
Avenue into its own rehabilitated building at One Milk
Street, Boston, Massachusetts.
The International Institute was founded in 1924 and has assisted many thousands of people from more than 100 countries during its 74 year history. This organization provides legal, educational, housing and social services as well as employment training and counseling. During the last 12 months, more than 7,000 people from 60 countries have received services through the International Institute. Westy Egmont, Executive Director of the International Institute for the last two years, has spearheaded this expansion and relocation effort. Dr. Egmont was formerly the Executive Director of the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Pamela Feingold, Senior Vice President in charge of socially responsible lending stated that "Wainwright Bank is pleased to be able to provide credit to an organization such as the International Institute of Boston so that they can continue their mission of assistance to refugees and immigrants." This loan to a nonprofit agency is part of a portfolio which has made Wainwright Bank well known for its affordable housing lending activities and other forms of socially responsible lending.
