WAINWRIGHT BANK OPENS NEW BRANCH IN JAMAICA PLAIN
Boston, MA, July 13, 1999 - Wainwright Bank & Trust
Company has opened its 6th branch office at 687 Centre
Street in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston.
The branch provides a full range of banking services including checking, savings, CDs, mortgages, Home Equity Lines, and small business loans. It is staffed with bi-lingual employees and offers Saturday hours and 24-hour ATM access. The Wainwright Bank Community Room, an after-hours conference room, is available to nonprofit organizations doing business with the bank.
Located in a building formerly occupied by the Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center, the branch is managed by local resident and Wainwright Assistant Vice President Amy Hernandez. With the announced mergers of Fleet/BankBoston and Citizens/US Trust, it provides one of the last community banking options for area residents and businesses.
"We've received literally hundreds of requests over the last few years to open a Jamaica Plain branch. After three years of searching for a suitable location, we've opened to a most enthusiastic welcome from the neighborhood," said Senior Vice President, Steven Young.
With headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, Wainwright Bank is a publicly-traded commercial bank founded in 1987 with assets of $340 million. Wainwright's socially responsible community development initiatives have been recognized nationally and in 1998 the bank received the 10th Annual Business Ethics Award for its "commitment to social justice inside and out".
Wainwright Bank has committed over $100 million to affordable housing and other socially responsible community development projects in the Boston area including homeless shelters, food banks, AIDS services, women's health projects, and environmental protection. ^ back to top ^
